About Me

Hi! I’m Kathleen.
I like to think of myself as an intellectual because I have a Master’s degree in literature, I wear glasses and I smoked a pipe one time. It helps me to feel better about the fact that I’m almost completely unemployable. I come from an Old Colony Mennonite background and I’ve been married to my carpenter/musician husband, Benjamin, for over six years. He’s Mennonite, too.
Until recently I worked as a lackey for minimum wage at a local publishing house. I really, really sucked at it. I’m currently on maternity leave to care for my new baby (more on that below).
I love Jesus, Renaissance literature, languages, etymology, museums, and carbohydrates. I hate all but the gentlest forms of exercise.
Ben also loves Jesus, and enjoys fixing cars and eating pancakes. He hates everyone who happens to operate a motorized vehicle at the same time as him. He’s not very photogenic so I didnât include a picture of him. He’s handsomer in real life.
Ben and I got married when I was twenty and in my third year of university. He was twenty-two.
In April of 2009 Ben and I decided we were ready to have children. A year and a half later when that still hadnât happened we adopted a puppy as a substitute kid. Her name is Narnia and I love her to an unhealthy degree.
In December of 2010 (after 20 months of trying), I discovered I was unexpectedly pregnant. Nine months later I gave birth (at home) to Lydia Calliope. She was totally worth the wait.
Ben and I both enjoy a do-it-yourself lifestyle and are a touch chronic-depressive. Someday we would like to own a small farm and grow all our own food and cook everything from scratch.
We both grew up and continue to live in Leamington, Ontario.
